Mumbai News: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday wrote a letter to the police and the government, accusing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son of threatening his life. He said that Shinde's MP son has given his betel nut to a criminal. While Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed Raut's allegations as an attempt to create sensationalism, a Shiv Sena MLA termed the allegations as a "cheap gimmick".'My supari has been given to Raja Thakur'Raut said in his letter, 'Lok Sabha member Shrikant Shinde (son of Eknath Shinde) has given supari to a Thane criminal Raja Thakur to kill me. I have confirmed regarding the same. I am informing you as a responsible citizen.' Raut made the allegations in a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, copies of which were also sent to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, and Thane city police. .'Raut's cheap gimmick for sympathy'Reacting to Raut's letter, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat said, "Raut is adopting cheap tactics to gain sympathy." There is no doubt that this matter should be thoroughly investigated. However, do not forget that Raut keeps on adopting a lot of gimmicks, which do not have any facts. I believe that Shrikant Shinde will never do this, yet investigation can be started.'Committee on security will decide'At the same time, on Raut's letter, Fadnavis said, 'My question is whether the letter is to ask for protection or to create sensation? It is a big mistake to link the subject of security with politics. It is a big mistake to make such allegations without proof. Whether it is Sanjay Raut or anyone else, all the security related action is done by our intelligence department and the security related committee. His letter will go to the Intelligence Commissioner and the committee will take an appropriate decision on it.
