He also said that this assembly election is being fought on his face, but the party high command will decide who will become the next Chief Minister. Baghel said, "The second phase of assembly elections on 70 seats is going on today, people should participate in this festival of democracy. Keeping in mind the welfare of farmers, youth, women and laborers, people should come out of their homes and reach polling stations in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

If Congress wins, who will become CM?

When asked whether he would remain the Chief Minister if the Congress wins, he said that this election is being fought on his face but the further decision (as to who will be the CM) will be taken by the high command. Voting began at 8 am in 70 constituencies for the second and final phase of elections. This phase of voting will decide the fate of 958 candidates, including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, eight ministers of state and four Members of Parliament. Baghel is contesting from his traditional Patan seat where the BJP has fielded his distant nephew and party MP Vijay Baghel. The candidature of Amit Jogi, state president of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) and son of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, in Patan has added a new dimension to the contest.
