Vice President Election 2022 : West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the Vice Presidential candidate from the NDA side. Dhankhar hails from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. The decision was taken at the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting in Delhi. After this, BJP President JP Nadda announced the name of Dhankhar. All the leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, party president JP Nadda attended the meeting.

After Dhankhar was elected as NDA's Vice Presidential candidate, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "Glad that Jagdeep Dhankhar will be our (NDA's) Vice Presidential candidate. I am sure he will be an excellent Speaker in Rajya Sabha and will advance national progress. will guide the proceedings of the House for the purpose of Dhankhar has thanked the Prime Minister for being made the Vice Presidential candidate.

Dhankhar is the Jat leader of Rajasthan

The Jat leaders of BJP are from Rajasthan. Jagdeep Dhankhar, 70, was appointed as the 28th Governor of Bengal by President Ram Nath Kovind on 30 July 2019. He was a Lok Sabha MP from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan from 1989 to 1991. He was also a Union Minister in the government of VP Singh and Chandrashekhar from 1989 to 1991.

When Dhankhar said - I am not a sitting governor

While being the Governor of Bengal, there have been many conflicts between Jagdeep Dhankhar and Mamta Banerjee. He directly blamed the Mamata government for the political violence in the state after the Bengal elections. During his visit to North Bengal on 21 June 2021, he had said that people are being killed. In such a situation, I am not going to sit in the Governor's House.

Mamta was called a liar for not attending the PM's meeting

Jagdeep Dhankhar had called Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a liar. Actually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting in Bengal to review the damage caused by the Yas storm. Mamta did not reach there.

Dhankhar had tweeted- Mamta Banerjee had messaged me on May 27 at 11.15 pm. He said can I talk to you now? There is an application. Dhankhar had said that Mamta had indicated over the phone that she and her officers would not go to the PM's meeting.

His arrogance prevailed over the service of the public. Being compelled by false statements, I have put the complete record in front. The reason he gave for missing from the meeting on this is false.

TMC had demanded the removal of Dhankhar from the post.

The ongoing confrontation between Dhankhar and TMC had escalated so much that in December last year, a 5-member TMC delegation met President Ram Nath Kovind and recommended the removal of Dhankhar. TMC had said- Under sub-section 1 of Article 156 of the Constitution, we have appealed to remove the Governor, because he did not follow the Constitution. Even the order of the Supreme Court was not accepted, but they were not removed.

Controversy arose over making four relatives OSD

TMC had accused Jagdeep Dhankhar of making 4 of his relatives OSD in Raj Bhavan. Entire Raj Bhavan has been converted into BJP office. Food and drink is going on with public money. As the night goes on, so do his tweets. They meet businessmen at the Raj Bhavan. He lost the dignity of his position. The entire state knows that they are working in Bengal as an agent of BJP.
