Amritpal is the head of the 'Waris Punjab De' organization

The details of the order were told to the media on Wednesday. Amritpal, the head of the 'Waris Punjab De' organization, is currently lodged in an Assam jail along with his nine associates under the National Security Act. Contesting as an independent candidate, Amritpal won the Lok Sabha election from the Khadoor Sahib constituency.

Amritpal defeated nearest rival and Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira by 1,97,120 votes. The order said, "Based on the facts and circumstances, the Advisory Board is of the opinion that there are sufficient reasons to keep the detenu Amritpal Singh Sandhu alias Amritpal Singh in custody under the provisions of the National Security Act, 1980."
