NDA vs INDIA / No-confidence motion passed against the government on Manipur

No-Confidence Motion: No-Confidence Motion: In the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Congress presented a no-confidence motion against the government. Which was approved by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi moved a no-confidence motion when the proceedings of the Lok Sabha resumed at 12 noon. After the support of more than 50 MPs under the rules, the speaker said that the time for the debate on the motion of no confidence will be decided after talking to all the parties. However, while raising slogans, the opposition started demanding the presence of PM Modi. After this the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm.

Earlier, there was an uproar in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the issue of Manipur and both the Houses were adjourned till 12 noon.

On the other hand, action resumed in the Rajya Sabha as well. But the opposition MPs continued to raise slogans of 'We want justice, PM Modi answer'.

Statements of MPs on no-confidence motion.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal – First he wanted discussion. When we were ready, he brought up the issue of rules. Now they have brought a new issue that the PM should come and start the discussion. I think these are all excuses.

What is the motive of the opposition behind the motion of no confidence?

The opposition knows that the government will easily prove its majority in the house, but after the approval of the no-confidence motion, the Prime Minister's speech will also take place.

If we talk about the figures, the NDA currently has 335 MPs in the Lok Sabha. The first no-confidence motion against the Modi government came on 20 July 2018. Then the government got 325 votes, the opposition got 126 votes.

What happened in last 4 days in parliament

July 20 Day 1: Monsoon session of Parliament begins, on the first day, as soon as proceedings begin in both houses of Parliament, opposition MPs create ruckus over Manipur incident. Due to this, the proceedings of both the Houses were adjourned for the next day.

July 21 Day 2: On the second day of the session, the opposition created ruckus on the issue of Manipur. The proceedings of both the Houses were adjourned till 24 July. On the second day of the session, the Lok Sabha proceedings lasted for a total of 19 minutes and the Rajya Sabha proceedings for a total of 18 minutes.

July 24, third day: On the third day of monsoon, there was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the Manipur issue. Opposition MPs raised slogans. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 25 July.

July 25 Fourth day: On Tuesday, MPs raised slogans in the Lok Sabha on the Manipur issue and displayed posters of India for Manipur near the Speaker's podium. The proceedings of the House had to be adjourned first till 12 o'clock and then till 2 o'clock. On the other hand, the Rajya Sabha started for the third time amidst sloganeering. The action lasted for more than two hours after the opposition's walkout. During this the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill 2022 was passed. The proceedings were adjourned till the next day.
