From here Congress candidate Anil Sharma defeated BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Pincha by 26 thousand 852 votes. At the same time, RLP candidate Lalchand Moond remained at number three. The by-elections have been held here due to the demise of senior Congress leader and MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma.
Anil Sharma got a total of 91 thousand 357 votes. While BJP's Ashok Pincha got 64 thousand 505 and RLP's Lalchand Mund got 46 thousand 753 votes.
Anil Sharma, who was elected MLA from Sardarshahar, is the son of former MLA Bhanwarlal. He won his very first assembly election with a huge margin. With this victory, the Congress has also maintained its record of winning the by-elections.

Ashok Kumar Pincha, the BJP candidate who finished second from here, was fielded by the party in 2013 and 2018 as well. Bhanwarlal Sharma defeated Pincha in both the elections. This time his son Anil Sharma has defeated him. Pincha won the election from here in 2008.
Here on December 5, 72.09 percent polling was held at 295 polling stations. There was a triangular contest between Congress's Anil Sharma, BJP's Ashok Pincha and RLP's Lalchand Mund.
District Election Officer Siddharth Sihag said that the counting of postal ballots started at 8 am in the RO's room. After this, the counting of EVM machines started at around 8.30 am.
A counting supervisor, a counting assistant and a micro observer are present at each table. He said that 4 extra tables were installed in the RO's room, on which postal ballots and service voters were counted.
