Opposition parties, especially Rahul Gandhi, had strongly opposed the lack of reservation in recruitments through lateral entry. Many Congress and NDA leaders called this decision against social justice. Under lateral entry, experts are appointed in government service, in which there is no provision for reservation.

Rahul Gandhi called this decision an attack on the rights of Bahujans, while Union Minister Chirag Paswan talked about the necessity of reservation. The idea of ​​​​lateral entry had also come up during the UPA government, but at present a political debate has erupted over it. On the instructions of PM Modi, this controversial advertisement has been canceled, which shows the government's commitment to social justice.

Rahul Gandhi opposed

Rahul Gandhi said on social media platform 'X', "Lateral entry is an attack on Dalits, OBCs and Adivasis. BJP's distorted version of Ramrajya wants to destroy the Constitution and snatch reservation from the Bahujans." Earlier on Sunday, he had alleged that PM Modi was attacking the Constitution by recruiting public servants through RSS instead of UPSC.

Chirag Paswan said - this is a matter of concern

At the same time, ally in the central government and Union Minister Chirag Paswan also criticized any move to appoint people to government posts in this way and said that he would raise this issue before the Center. Chirag said on this issue, "There should be a provision of reservation in any government appointment. There is no ifs and buts in this. There is no reservation in the private sector and if it is not implemented in government posts as well ... then this information is a matter of concern for me."

No reservation in lateral entry

UPSC had issued recruitment for 45 posts in the ministries of the central government. In this, all the posts were to be filled through lateral entry. There is no reservation in lateral entry recruitment. A political debate had erupted over this.

Recruitment was to be done through lateral entry in 24 ministries

UPSC had recently issued an advertisement. In this, appointment was to be done through lateral entry on various senior posts within the central government. These posts included the posts of Joint Secretary, Director and Deputy Secretary in 24 ministries. Applications were invited for a total of 45 posts.

Rahul Gandhi and NDA leaders had also raised questions

Lateral entry in bureaucracy has started a new debate. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and SP MP Akhilesh Yadav had raised questions on the issue of reservation. NDA government leaders Chirag Paswan and KC Tyagi were also speaking against lateral entry.

Lateral entry is also called direct recruitment. In this, those people are taken into government service, who are very skilled in their field. They are not from IAS-PCS or any government cadre. Based on the experience of these people, the government deploys them in its bureaucracy.
