The way for the integration of the three municipal corporations of Delhi was cleared. After the passage of the bill from both the houses of Parliament, now President Ram Nath Kovind has also given his assent to the law. The central government had introduced a bill in Parliament to unite the three municipal corporations of Delhi and said that having a municipal corporation would strengthen its economic condition.

Bill has been passed by Parliament

Presenting the bill, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Delhi is the capital of the country and one lakh 40 thousand employees work in the three municipal corporations here. All the central offices including the residence of the President and the PM are located here. Delhi is a big center for domestic and foreign travel. In such a situation, everyone needs to think about this city.

He had also raised questions on the UPA government regarding the division of the municipal corporation and said that the decision to divide the corporation was incomprehensible. Till the year 2012, all the three MCDs used to be one but the UPA government had divided the MCD into three parts citing better performance. Since then three corporations are functioning in the capital.

If you leave South MCD, then the financial condition of the other two corporations is very bad and they are not able to even pay the salary of their employees. Due to this, the workers go on strike every day and Delhi turns into a pile of garbage.

MCD elections will not be held at present

After the approval of the President, now the process of delimitation of all three MCDs will be started and elections will be held after the completion of the delimitation. At present, the opposition party BJP has the power of MCD in Delhi. North, South and East MCDs were working in Delhi but now they will be merged.

At present, there are three different mayors in all the three MCDs of Delhi, but after being a corporation, this system will also end. Also, the number of wards has to change during the delimitation.
