Lok Sabha Speaker Election: Election for the speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha will be held today at 11 am. There is a contest between Om Birla from NDA and K Suresh from India Alliance. Out of 542 MPs, only 537 MPs will vote for the speaker. After 11 am today, it will be decided who will be the speaker of the Lok Sabha. Earlier, the election of the speaker has been unopposed, but this time the opposition is demanding the post of deputy speaker. The opposition is also showing its strength as the demands are not being accepted by the government. According to the strength of numbers, Om Birla is almost certain to be elected.

Parties will inform MPs about the voting process

Meanwhile, Congress and BJP have issued a three-line whip for their respective MPs. However, voting will be done in a secret manner and the whip will not be applicable in it. At the same time, today the leaders of NDA and India Alliance will inform their MPs about the voting process.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy gave this indication

Meanwhile, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the post of Speaker is a constitutional post and we all believe that the Speaker belongs to everyone. Today NDA has the majority and everyone wants that the Speaker of Lok Sabha should be elected with consensus. We believe that we are moving towards a big consensus and the opposition is also thinking in this direction.

Manjhi said this

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the Speaker is not the post of any party, the Speaker represents the entire Parliament. Here the majority should be respected. In many states, the party which is in power has a Speaker and Deputy Speaker but they (opposition) want that the decision on the Deputy Speaker should be taken beforehand. We say that the Speaker should be decided first, when the Deputy Speaker will be discussed then it will be decided after sitting together, there is no consensus on this.

K. Suresh made this allegation

India Alliance candidate K. Suresh said that we do not know whether we win or lose, but we will fight. The post of Deputy Speaker is the right of the opposition. The government is not giving us the post of Deputy Speaker. That's why we are contesting the elections.
