Lok Sabha Speaker: Today, Om Birla filed his nomination from NDA for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, while Congress has also fielded its candidate K. Suresh for this post. This will be the first time after independence that elections will be held for the post of Speaker. Earlier, Rajnath had called the Congress President and sought support for the post of Speaker, on which Rahul Gandhi expressed his opinion and said that the opposition is ready to support the Speaker candidate.

Rajnath Singh had talked to opposition leaders

It is worth noting that to build a consensus for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker, senior cabinet minister Rajnath Singh on behalf of the government contacted the opposition leaders and sought support. Talking to the media on this today i.e. Tuesday, Rahul said, "We have told Rajnath Singh that we will support his Speaker (candidate), but the tradition is that the post of Deputy Speaker should be given to the opposition."

Our leader insulted- Rahul

Apart from this, while giving details of the conversation between Rajnath Singh and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul also alleged that opposition leaders are being "insulted". Rahul Gandhi said, "It is written in the newspaper today that Prime Minister Modi has said that the opposition should cooperate constructively with the government. Rajnath Singh called Mallikarjun Kharge and asked him to support the speaker. The entire opposition said that we will support the speaker, but the tradition is that the post of deputy speaker should be given to the opposition. Rajnath Singh said that he will call Mallikarjun Kharge back, but he has not done so yet. PM Modi is seeking cooperation from the opposition, but our leader is being insulted."
