Haryana Election 2024: Congress general secretary Kumari Selja ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Haryana assembly elections, making it clear that the Congress will contest the elections on its own strength. Selja says that the Congress is strong and will get an absolute majority in the elections on its own.

Selja said, "We are partners (in the India Alliance), but the decision of alliance at the state level is the responsibility of the party itself. The Aam Aadmi Party has already ruled out the possibility of an alliance. The Congress will achieve success in the elections on its own."

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a senior Congress leader, had also given a statement on the same lines, saying that there is no talk of alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress is capable on its own. Selja also ruled out the influence of the INLD-BSP alliance and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), saying that these will have no effect on the Congress. He said that the base of the JJP has weakened and the performance of the INLD-BSP alliance has also been negligible.

Regarding the chief ministerial candidate, Selja said that Congress usually does not declare the chief ministerial face while being in the opposition. Assembly elections in Haryana will be held on October 1 and counting of votes will be held on October 4.

There will be no alliance with Aam Aadmi Party: Selja

When asked about the possibility of an alliance with AAP in this election, former Union Minister Selja said that we are partners (in India Alliance), but it was decided that the decision (on alliance) will be taken at the state level. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party has said that it will not form an alliance in the assembly elections. I believe that Congress is strong in itself and it will contest the elections on its own.

Hooda had also said this

On August 13, former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda had said that there is no discussion about an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party in the state assembly elections and Congress is capable on its own. Both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are components of 'India Alliance'. In the Lok Sabha elections, both the parties had contested together in Delhi and Haryana, but in Punjab, both had contested separately. This time, Selja also dismissed the possibility of a fractured mandate and said that Congress will get absolute majority. She said, "BJP does not have much base in the whole of Haryana.

INLD-BSP alliance, JJP contesting elections will not affect Congress

When asked about the impact of INLD-BSP alliance and JJP, Selja said that JJP has lost its ground. It has broken. Last time, their MLAs who won were Congress people. I do not see any chance for them. INLD's performance in the Lok Sabha elections was also negligible. BSP has also lost a lot of its base. When the results come, it will be known that this alliance had no effect.

Said this about the CM candidate

On the question whether Congress will declare the candidate for the post of Chief Minister before the elections, the Congress General Secretary said that our party has a method. In most of the cases, our party does not declare the face of the Chief Minister. When the party is in opposition, there is usually no chief ministerial face. Voting for all 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 1. Counting of votes will take place on October 4.
