However, now the Congress high command wants to do damage control in this matter because Samajwadi Party has a good influence in Chambal, Gwalior and Vindhya region. If Samajwadi Party does not field candidates as per Congress in the areas bordering Uttar Pradesh, then BJP will get direct benefit from it.

Talking about the last elections (2018), there was a significant increase in the vote share of Congress in Gwalior Chambal and Vindh areas. In 2013, Congress's vote share was 36.3 percent, while BJP's was 44.8 percent. In 2018, BJP's percentage was 41.02. Whereas Congress had 40.8 percent. If Samajwadi Party and other regional parties go against Congress then this vote share will reduce. This can cause great loss to Congress.
