Tripura Civic Polls Update: Results of the elections held for 14 municipal bodies in Tripura are out today. Counting of votes is still on, and BJP seems to be clean bolting other parties. BJP has won 8 seats. While the rest of the seats are also leading. Voting was held on Thursday for 14 out of 20 municipal bodies (Elections in Tripura). BJP had fielded its candidates in all the seats. BJP has already won 112 of the total 334 seats unopposed. Voting was done for a total of 222 seats in the rest of the Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayat elections.According to the latest information from the State Election Commission, BJP is leading on Ambassa, Jirania, Teliyamura and Sabroom. BJP is contesting civic polls in Tripura after coming to power in 2018 (Tripura Civic Polls Counting). Trends show that Trinamool Congress (TMC) has secured the second position among all the wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). According to the information, till 12 noon, BJP has got 58,821 votes in AMC areas, TMC has got 22,295 votes. While the CPI(M) remained at the third position with 15,960 votes.CPI(M) trails behind BJPThree other Left parties - CPI, Forward Bloc and RSP - in alliance with the CPI(M) have garnered a total of 2,650 votes. However, the CPI(M) is trailing behind the BJP. Apart from Agartala, TMC has secured second position in two urban bodies. The Mamata Banerjee-led party ranks third among the three urban bodies. Congress is trailing in third place among six municipal bodies (TMC in Tripura Elections). About 785 candidates have fielded in these 222 seats. 36 candidates had withdrawn their nominations.BJP workers celebratingMeanwhile, BJP workers have started celebrating. However, the officials of the Election Commission say that the counting is still on and it will take some time to declare the final result (Situation in Tripura). Tight security arrangements have been made at the counting centers with deployment of personnel from Central Armed Police Force, Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) to maintain law and order. No untoward incident has been reported so far. With voting on Thursday itself, the TMC and the CPI(M) were accused of vote rigging, with both demanding re-polling in various municipalities. At the same time, the ruling BJP had rejected these allegations.
